The Fear of the Lord

This is a list of “fear of the Lord” verses that I have been compiling. Enjoy!

  • (Job 28:28) [Job says] “Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.”

  • (Proverbs 1:6) “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

  • (Psalm 2:11) “Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.”

  • (Psalm 25:14) “The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him.”

  • (Psalm 33:8-9) Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

  • we fear God because he MADE EVERYTHING.

  • (Psalm 33:18-19) Behold, the eye of the LORD is on these who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine.

  • (Psalm 36:1) “Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes.”

  • (Proverbs 8:13) “The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil.”

  • (Psalm 128:1–2) 1 Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! 2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

  • (Psalm 128:4) 4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord.

  • (Psalm 130:3-4) “If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O LORD, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.”

  • (Psalm 147:11) “…the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him…”

  • (Psalm 114:7) “Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the God of Jacob.

  • (Proverbs 1:29) 29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord,

  • The fear of the Lord can be chosen.

  • (Psalm 145:19) 19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.

  • (Proverbs 2:3-5) “Yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD.

  • (Proverbs 9:10) “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.”

  • (Proverbs 19:27) “The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short.”

  • (Proverbs 14:2) “Whoever walks in uprightness fears the LORD.

  • (Proverbs 14:26) “In the fear of the LORD one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.”

  • (Proverbs 14:27) “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.”

  • (Proverbs 15:16) “Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble with it.”

  • (Proverbs 15:33) “The fear of the LORD is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.”

  • (Proverbs 16:6) “By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the LORD one turns away from evil.”

  • (Proverbs 19:23) “The fear of the LORD leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.”

  • (Ecclesiastes 5:7) “For when dreams increase and words grow many, there is vanity; but God is the one you must fear.

  • (Isaiah 8:13) “But the LORD of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.”

  • (Psalm 34:9) “Oh fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack.”

  • (Psalm 34:7) “The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.”
